What ORCKA Canoeing and Kayaking Skills Courses Can I Take?The following are some of the canoeing and kayaking skills courses currently being offered by ORCKA Organizational Members in the Province of Ontario. If you don't see a course listed here, please refer to the "Course Providers" page for an ORCKA Organization Member in your area to see how they can help you take a paddling course or a paddlesport adventure! The regions indicated correspond to the twelve Ontario Tourism Regions as designated by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism.

8:30 am | Earl Rowe Provincial Park, near Alliston Ontario/Metropolitan Toronto | Basic Canoeing Level 1 and 2 (Tandem) is an introduction to canoeing. The candidate will demonstrate safe behaviour while becoming comfortable paddling in a tandem canoe. Suitable for inexperienced canoers. Suitable for those who have some canoeing experience with a love for canoeing. We recommend candidates be at least 10 years old for this course. 9:00-5:00 | Cambridge/South Western Ontario | Lakewater/Canadian Style Canoeing level 1 & 2 This course is designed to perfect tandem skills and continue the development of solo paddling skills. Canadian Style paddling is a higher level of paddling than Basic, and involves more precise handling of the canoe, both tandem and solo. Successful participants will receive certification in Canadian Style level 2 by the Ontario Recreation Canoeing and Kayaking Association. Prerequisites: ORCKA Basic level 4 or Flatwater Level D, equivalent certification or comparable skills and experience (with permission of instructor).
